When sewing on sweatshirts our embroidery pros recommend a thick cutaway backing to get the best stabilization.
Cotton/polyester blend sweatshirts, like the one used in this project, tend to have a fair amount of stretchiness to them, so we used two pieces of the 2.5 oz. Medium Weight CutAway Stabilizer Backing
