How does DTF printing work?

With a dual head design, the DTF-12H2 printer lays down the colors in a blend of CMYK colors with the first printhead. Then, it uses the second head to lay down a white underbase on top of the colors in perfect alignment, keeping any white from peeking out.

Next, comes the powder. This moisture seeking adhesive powder is added to the back of the transfers. This is what gives DTF prints their signature soft touch.

The PET transfer film being used in this process is transluscent, allowing you to see the design underneath it when you go to heat press it onto a garment later on. The film is roll fed and designed for a hot peel, making it easier to speed up production.

Can you use another brand/style of heat press you already own? Yes, just be careful of one very important thing: you need to have even heat and pressure across the entire platen.
