How to make custom Memorial Day T-Shirts with a Cutter and White Toner Printer

Creating custom t-shirts is one of many American traditions. We love to honor, remember and show our pride with custom apparel. If you are considering starting (or growing) your custom apparel business, we have two videos showing different ways to make custom t-shirts, caps and can coolers (koozies.) 

The first video shows the Digital HeatFX system. This uses a specialized White Toner Printer to create transfers. These transfers can be made with tons of colors and don’t require any weeding, screens or liquids. They are an awesome way to create transfers that can be put on all types of textiles and non-textiles. Some examples are:

This next video shows the use of the Cut n Press System. This includes a Graphtec Cutting Plotter and Triton Heat Transfer Vinyl. Cutting plotters are an awesome way to create t-shirts and offer different benefits than a transfer system. 

Cutting plotters allow you to cut solid colors one later at a time, a 3 colors design requires 3 layers of material. Although this is more work than a transfer system, it offers other benefits.  These include:

  • Ability to create glitter t-shirts that feel, wear and wash well
  • Use of specialty materials like reflective and holographic
  • Ability to run sign/sticker material through the cutter to create signs/decals
  • Lower cost of entry for a complete business set up

Both of these systems are a fantastic way to create custom apparel. They have fantastic benefits and a low learning curve. The best answer is to truly invest in a combo kit that offers both systems. Our most successful customers own both a cutter and a digital printer. This allows for them to choose the right decorating method depending on the substrate or their customers needs.
